superb as usual! nice and dry humour, witty and subtle visual poetics.
so thankful there was (no) sign saying : no video…
but then one can suppose that the place was under public video surveillance, anyway.
fine soundtrack btw. best, sam
so many rules everywhere! that sign’s just waiting for some public replies to the rules.
So…are you allowed to do anything in that park other than walk or is that questionable as well with the gate being there?
YES!
no fun, bah. that sign might as well say no life allowed. intervention time: picture this, hand painted sign attached or hung off this depressing one: pints and fun over here, with an arrow pointing the way. the word no, repeated frequently in the face of benign and harmless, possibly healthy activity makes me want to rebel. perfect music for the piece and the whole thing had an impact. No? says WHO???
A life ruled by signs. It’s a wonderful thing………..isn’t it?
what a bummer!!! seems like hell… maybe?
No joy either I see….it feels weird to say it’s a wonderful video, a video about being told no, ….life is strange indeed…
Makes my stomach go all leaden and the palms sweat. Claustrophobic.
This video seems like something one would be shown for the deprogramming of undesirable activities (like feeding pigeons, ball games, etc.). The music really sets the mood.
Someone needs to construct an additional one: No signage!
Or maybe: No You!
Image/Sound are just right here. By the end it’s like the sign is a hundred feet tall.
Hi Robert,
I’m a quite behind in my vlog viewing. I’m glad I stopped by. We both did pieces around signage, mine is up over at hopper.
You’re film is great, the integration of the b&W and color and the sound is top notch.
I also just looked at the piece about the couple on the Hill. Beautiful. Almost too much to believe really. I’m a bit cynical, but I guess you knew that.
All is well here. I have a new job which has been great so far. I’m feeling fit. I’ve been writing scripts for the new Next To Heaven season. I must deal with casting actors next. Not really my favorite thing, but you can’t make a movie without them . . . wait, I guess I could use public domain footage to tell the stories . . .
Cheers
Rob
This is beautiful, in that weirdly ironic way. I was actually just thinking of this very issue when I went to the park recently to film the baby ducks. I couldn’t find any baby ducks! But I found many signs that said “no….” And the rubbish bin is actually chained to a tree. As though some evil citizen would come along and steal the rubbish. Why didn’t I make a video of that? I’m just not as brilliant as you.
That’s what she said…..
I like this, I like the emphasis … sound and image always adhere - and thanks for all the comments on my videos of late - I saw some a really silly sign recently in Grizdale car park - next to the car park pay machine … it said ‘please pay here’ …
